Junior Interclubs, a Medal Day and Ribbon Day are held over eight Sundays during the season. These are open to ALL registered club athletes aged from 7 through to 15 years of age.
The Interclub meets provide a great opportunity for children to experience a wide range of athletics events including shot put, discus, long jump, high jump, track races from 60m up to 1500m distances, race walking, hurdles, steeplechase and relays. Seven rounds of events are held from 10am to 2pm
Athletes remain with their age-grade groups during the meet, and move between events in rounds. Events offered for each grade are adjusted to suit the age of athletes, and not all events are offered at each meet.
Children compete in their club uniform and gain points that count towards Interclub trophies that are awarded at the end of the season.
More information can be found on the Athletics Wellington website https://athleticswellington.org.nz/junior/

Purchase your Olympic uniform. You have to wear it for all the interclubs, colgate games, medal day and ribbon day. This is black shorts and the Olympic singlet or tshirt.
Turn up at 9:30 for a 10am start at Newtown Park. It finishes around 2pm (you don't have to be there for the whole day).
Collect your allocated competitor bib number from registration, prior to the start of the Interclub meet. You will retain this bib for the season.
Other things to note:
Kids get to compete against athletes in their age group from other clubs.
It’s for 7 to 15 year olds. Your age/grade is your age at 31 December.
Each athlete competing earns individual points and club points at all the interclubs. At the end of the season they have an award for the individual in each age group with the most points, and the club with the most points. Olympic has won this trophy many times.
We will send a programme out the week prior to each interclub. It’s a great family day out. The kids love it. It gives them a chance to make new friends and compete in a friendly environment.
We run the Long Jump pit 2. So parents will be asked to help out.
At Medal Day you register on the day for events from 9.30am with a start time of 10am. There is a small fee per child and non-club members can attend. At Medal Day they have races for Under 7s and medals for the first three placings in each event (including each heat of the track races).
